St. Francis College
Brooklyn, New York, New York
The Campus Ministry of St. Francis College renovated their student chapel in the Fall of 2007. As part of the renovation, the 1970's era drawer style tabernacle was retired. Brother Thomas Grady, OSF, initiated a search for a worthy tabernacle which could also be used for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. After an extensive search, it was determined that the design of the Coury House tabernacle at Subiaco Abbey was most suitable for their needs. The St. Francis tabernacle makes use of various exotic and domestic woods. The dominant wood is mahogany and makore with highly figured, bookmatched big leaf maple crotch on the tabernacle door. The cross is accented with gold leaf while the interior is lined with Spanish cedar. The ostensorium and luna were custom made by Wheaton Church Supply of Wheaton, IL.
