St. Mary's Catholic Church
St. Vincent, Arkansas
Designed and created to replace a delapidated stand, this furnishing holds a 3"x36" Paschal Candle from Marklin Candle (brassware also from Marklin). The stand is about 40" high with a 15" footprint. The opening stanzas of the Exultet inspired the three rings representing the "heavenly powers" (top), the Earth (bottom) and the Church (middle ring). The lower ring also references the waters of baptismal renewal while the middle ring bears the Greek abbreviation Jesus Christ, Victor (ICXC NIKA). The eight studs on the upper ring symbolize the stars of heaven and the renewal of the eighth day. This stand was first used for Easter Vigil 2007. It was the first time in the parish's 127 year history that someone was baptized during the Easter Vigil.
