Cowie Chapel
Carbon City, Arkansas
Deacon Bob Cowie asked that an altar and ambo be created for his family chapel from the remains of a historic wine vat from the early days of winemaking in Arkansas. The cypress lumber from the vat was cleaned, planed, and shaped into the new furnishings. One of Dcn. Cowie's prized bells was hung from the ambo. It is one of eight unique bells inside the chapel the official title of which is St. Anne of the Bells. Many more bells are in the towers outside and a bell museum is in planning stages. Finishing was by Carl Stengel of Ratcliff, Arkansas. The altar and ambo were installed in 2010.
